Temperature significantly influences the viscosity and flow rate of automotive glass adhesives, water roofing adhesive, matte adhesive floor and construction nail glue.
In cold conditions (below 15°C/59°F), polyurethane windscreen glazing sealant viscosity increases sharply. The pu star windshield sealant becomes thicker and more resistant to flow. This forces the sausage caulking gun to exert more pressure. In extreme cases, the auto glass replacement kit butyl windscreen sealant may not dispense at all.
Conversely, in hot conditions (above 30°C/86°F), viscosity decreases. The windshield glue becomes overly fluid. This makes it difficult to achieve a precise bead, often resulting in sagging on vertical surfaces, messy application, and car glass glue waste.
Optimal application typically occurs within the material's specified temperature range, usually 18°C to 25°C (65°F to 77°F). At this range, viscosity is ideal for a smooth, consistent flow rate, ensuring easy tooling, proper seam filling, and maximum adhesion.
Best Practice: Always store glue for car glass windshield at room temperature and condition at least 24 hours prior to use. Never apply car window sealer directly from a cold truck or a hot storage container.
